Mistake #1 - Not Eating Enough Food

I hear the same thing time after time…..

“I am so hungry on this diet” or “I haven’t lost any weight in Cycle 1″…

OK, there are two things wrong with these statements. 1- You should NEVER feel hungry on the 17 Day Diet and 2- It’s nearly impossible NOT to lose any weight on Cycle 1.

How can I avoid this mistake?

You're not new to the 17 Day Diet, so you know you're allowed liberal amounts of approved lean proteins and cleansing veggies. So if you're hungry, eat up!

It might seem counterintuitive, but you really need to eat more of the "good stuff" in order to lose more weight.​

The less food you eat, the slower your weight loss will become.  You must fuel your body with healthy foods, so eat up and reap the rewards!​

Mistake #2 - Not Drinking Enough Water

Many times “hunger pangs" mean our body is telling us that we are dehydrated and need more water.  The 17 Day Diet recommends you drink at least eight 8oz glasses of PLAIN water.  This means, coffee, tea and other flavored drinks don't count towards your water intake.

How can I avoid this mistake?

If you want to release some water weight, make sure you drink up! I know, it sounds weird, but in order to lose more weight you have to drink more water -- that's how it works!​

While coffee and tea are allowed, they are considered negative water! The more you drink coffee or tea, the more water you'll need to drink!

If you have a difficult time keeping track of your water intake, get yourself on a schedule. Drink at least 8 oz of water every hour on the hour until it becomes a habit. If your schedule isn't super flexible, then use your favorite tracking app or alarm on your smartphone to remind you to drink more!

Regardless of how you monitor your water intake, remember it's vital for health and weight loss! ​

Mistake #3 - Staying on Cycle 1 Too Long

There's a reason the diet is called The 17 Day Diet! You're on each cycle for no more than 17 days at a time.

One HUGE mistake I see people make is staying on Cycle 1 too long! I know we've all been tempted to stay a few more days past 17.

They aren't losing weight nearly as much as they'd hoped (probably because of mistakes 1 and 2) and so they think if they stay on Cycle 1 for longer than 17 days, they'll lose more weight. WRONG! That's not how it works.

Now while they might lose more weight at first, the longer you stay on Cycle 1, the more your body will get used to eating the same types of foods.

Eventually, you'll plateau and stop losing weight. It's so important to progress through each cycle as they each have their own purpose in order to help you progress through your weight loss.​

How can I avoid this mistake?

Super simple -- stay on Cycle 1 no more than 17 days at a time! When you're finished with Cycle 1, move onto Cycle 2. Once you're finished with Cycle 2, progress to Cycle 3. By the end of Cycle 3, go back to Cycle 1 if you have more weight to lose. Keep going through these cycles 17 days at a time until you reach your goal!
